From start to finish, you’re bombarded with nonstop information that forces you to stay focused to what was going on, but it never got too complicated. What I found exciting with the film was that there was always something going on in every scene. The cunning Moriarty is always one step ahead of Holmes as he spins a web of death and destruction-all part of a greater plan that, if he succeeds, will change the course of history. But Sherlock Holmes deduces that the prince has been the victim of murder-a murder that is only one piece of a larger and much more portentous puzzle, designed by Professor Moriarty. When the Crown Prince of Austria is found dead, the evidence, as construed by Inspector Lestrade (Eddie Marsan), points to suicide. Not only is Moriarty Holmes’ intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective. Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room until he finds his match. The film takes us to a cat and mouse game between Sherlock Holmes (the Amazing Robert Downey Jr.) and criminal mastermind at large- Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris). Fortunately he put all my doubts to rest because A Game Of Shadows was nothing short of excellent and I’d definitely can’t wait for him and Warner Bros. I was a little worried about whether Director Guy Richie could pull off a satisfying sequel after giving us a taste of what the rejuvenated Sherlock Holmes could do.
