![]() As it turns out, this stuffed monster is actually notorious amongst Titanfall players, as it has appeared in each and every map within both of those games. Theres rarely any warning at all that an enemy is approaching, because Apexs method of keeping track of opponents is through notoriously unreliable audio queues. The weapons are snappy and hit hard, but also skillful. And if youre still worried about enemies sneaking up on you, fret not! The answer to that was revealed within the trailer itself. After it was announced on Tuesday that Apex Legends Mobile was being canceled, a new report from Bloomberg states that another secret Apex Legends game has been canceled by EA. ![]() Also I think Marvins wouldnt need to regenerate since Marvins are artificial constructs like titan ai, not human minds, so they should be able to just transfer their ai to a new body like we see BT do in the campaign. The game, which is one of the best battle royale games available, features elements of the dynamic movement that made "Titanfall 2" so fluid, in addition to many of the signature weapons players enjoyed in that title, including the Kraber, the Volt, and the R-97. It's unknown if Blisk started the games, but it's clear that he's had a major influence on them: he appears in the aforementioned cinematic, and the game's naming and imagery mirrors his old mercenary team, known as the Apex Predators. Well, that very same creature is located, in the corner of Apexs training map. To Respawn, look, after what happened with Titanfall one and two and now also with Apex mobile, a lot of the community is worried about whats going on in the inside. While it doesn't necessarily reference or even call back to that game, it is an indirect sequel of sorts. You'd have expected more from the devs behind Titanfall's great Attrition mode. Seeing the grey hairs of Blisk in the intro of Apex solidify the time estimation. Appearing in both the original game and its sequel, Blisk's ties to Apex Legends are made clear right from the opening cinematic of the free-to-play game. The fins on her forearms are thinner than the Batman figures, but look in proportion with her thinner build. The waistline is sculpted with her belt, and has a huge peg sticking out the right side to hold her red purse. In fact she’s almost as tall as the Batman figure she comes with. It works out all right, but can get in the way of the wings sometimes.īatgirl comes with the same base body as Catwoman –that is little waist, big bust, and very long legs. He has a peg clamp on his backside to hold the gun. He’s also missing the trademark fins on his forearms. The head is also vacu-formed, and has a very retro Voltron look to it. The shoulders are made from silver vacu-formed plastic to mimic armor, and have a curved spike on top of each. ![]() The waist has a sculpted belt instead of the separately sculpted piece found on the other Batmen. While the base body is the same, the head, shoulders, and waist have been tailored to the specific figure. The legs come out as being a little long and skinny, but it’s hardly noticeable.įG Batman is slightly different. The facial expression is nice and stern, and the muscles on the torso aren’t overdone. The head, hands, and cape are rubber while the rest of the body is plastic. The 2-pack Batman is basically a repaint of the first Microman version. Like the Marvel Comics figures done by Toy Biz, these guys are all about articulation, and the sculpt reflects that. This is not a line one collects based on the sculpting. The packaging is serviceable and shows off the product well enough. Since the original Batman and the Lee inspired Catwoman have already been covered, tonight I’ll focus on the Batman/Batgirl 2-pack and the Batman in flight gear. In the end I picked up all five figures produced by Takara. The poseability appealed to the articulation freak in me, and the size was excellent for my increasingly crowded shelf space. There were so many things going for this figure that I had to pick it up. Well that all changed the moment I saw a guest reviewer’s coverage of the Takara Microman version of the bat. ![]() However, when it comes to action figure collecting there’s little evidence to show it other than my Hush figures. No other comic or cast of characters has ever held my attention as long or entertained me as much as the continuing saga of Bruce Wayne and company. Since I’m still holding out on buying any of the new animated Clone Wars or Episode III preview figures until I can find some in undamaged packages, I’m doing something a little different tonight. Three very cool figures, the Microman Flight Gear Batman, and the Batman and Sean Teeter, our very own College Bum, is back tonight with a review of Choose from a wide range of these products along with hand ratchets, manometers and manifold gauge set accessories from Yellow Jacket on Raptor Supplies. Also like the color version in Basilisk II, there are pretty backgrounds in Tetris Crystal QuestĪnother popular Mac game from the Plus/SE/Classic era was Crystal Quest. Just like in Basilisk II, the music works. There really isn’t much to write about here… it’s a game of Tetris. The black-and-white version of Tetris runs nicely in Mini vMac. But there is also, obviously, a black-and-white version that runs nicely on compact Macs – including the Plus and in Mini vMac. In Basilisk II I played the color version of Tetris. Tetrisīack in the 1980s, Tetris was ported to almost every popular platform – including the Macintosh. ![]() Let’s look at some that I have been able to run. Unlike Basilisk II, finding software to run well in Mini vMac is more difficult. From one Finder to another… to access a disk image, just simply drag it into Mini vMac Software To load programs, you simply repeat the process you used to load the startup disk – simply drag the disk image files into Mini vMac, where they will load. Mini vMac emulates a Macintosh Plus with System 6.0.8 and 4MB RAM. Then you are greeted with the standard Macintosh System 6 desktop. ![]() To start the virtual Mac, you just simply drag the startup disk file to the Mini vMac screen. (The setup procedure may vary for other operating systems, such as Windows.) Just like a real Macintosh Plus (or any Mac that has no operating system installed), you will be presented with the blinking question mark icon when you start the virtual Mac… It really is that easy, at least on a Mac. Unlike Basilisk II or SheepShaver, there is next to nothing you have to do to setup Mini vMac for use, except create a folder, drop the Mini vMac application in there along with the Plus ROM, and get the startup and addition disk files. Transferring files between the virtual Mac Plus and your PC requires an additional piece of software for the virtual Mac. Also unlike Basilisk II, there is no shared folder or virtual hard drive. However, unlike Basilisk II, you just need the startup and additions “disk” files – which contain the operating system. You then acquire a ROM file, just like in Basilisk II. You just download the ZIP file, uncompress it somewhere on your system. Installing Mini vMac is easy, at least on a Mac. I could get the GUI setup interface to run, but I couldn’t create the hard disk file in Basilisk II to install the operating system on. (My Macintosh Classic has 2MB, though I hope to upgrade it to the maximum 4MB for improved performance.) Software that runs well in Mini vMac or on a Macintosh Plus should, in theory, run comfortably on newer compact Macs like my 1991 Macintosh ClassicĪnother reason for installing Mini vMac is I couldn’t get Basilisk II to run on my 2019 13″ MacBook Pro, likely due to Catalina. All three models feature the Motorola 68000 microprocessor, and all three also have a memory ceiling of 4MB. My 1991 Macintosh Classic is similar (spec-wise) to the Macintosh SE, which is the Plus’ successor – although anything that runs well on the Plus should run comfortably on the Classic. I wanted to see what software would look like on a Macintosh Plus in emulation. My reason for installing Mini vMac was simple. Just like with the real Plus and it’s predecessors (the 128k, 512k and 512ke), there is no hard drive – you have to learn how to “swap” disks. ![]() Instead, you get a modest Macintosh Plus with black-and-white graphics, the ubiquitous Motorola 68000 and the 4MB RAM. With Mini vMac, you don’t get a 68040 with color graphics and a virtual hard drive. However, what if you want to experience what it was truly like to own a compact Macintosh? What it was like living with 4MB RAM, a 9″ black-and-white (no grayscale) screen, and System 6? Mini vMac is the software of choice for that, as it emulates a Macintosh Plus – the fourth model of Macintosh. Basilisk II emulated a Macintosh Quadra 900, one of the most powerful Macs you could buy in 1992 Basilisk II can output millions of colors and is powerful enough to run almost all of the popular Mac software from the 68k era. Nearly a year ago I explored Basilisk II, another classic Macintosh emulator that emulates a Macintosh Quadra 900 to allow you to explore 68k software and System 7. Want to experience what it was like to use a Macintosh Plus from your modern computer? Mini vMac is the solution… For instance, Recoverit Data Recovery is one of the most popular and trusted recovery applications out there. MW: What it was like shooting the actual tunnel scenes?īurman: Those scenes were not as easy as they look, because the tunnels were tight, and people were actually getting claustrophobic on it, which is the whole effect you want to be filmed? As you've seen the film, our production designer, Carlos Osorio, did a wonderful job. Related: Exclusive: Daughter Cast and Producer Dish on Intense New Thriller And you know, we tried to get as much authenticity as we can. The majority of our effects, the explosions were practical. So I said, "Let's go backward and go before the tunnel rats were formed, and have that first wave of American military that have to go into the tunnels for a mission." So it starts as a combat war picture and then moves more into a Hitchcockian thriller. I was doing research about the tunnel rats, and I said, "No one's done a good movie about the tunnel rats." There's been like one low-budget horror movie, and that's it. And I said, "Let's bring that back." And also having a deep interest in history. They may lose at the end, which you don't see in cinema today. And they really were tales about extreme men in extreme circumstances, and the hero or the antihero may die at the end. And those were films like Deliverance, The French Connection, and Sorcerer. And I also was able to grow up during the late '60s to the early '80s, when what I called "dramatic action films" were at the forefront. One was, I grew up in LA, and I grew up around sets since I was in my single digits. Mark Burman: It really comes from two directions. MW: What inspired you to write and direct a film about the Vietnam War? How did it all start? ![]() The proposal also plans to restore two adjacent buildings, including the historic former home of the newspaper, creating more than 300,000 square feet of rentable office space in downtown L.A. The buildings, staggering at 37 and 53-stories high, will house 1,127 apartments between them as well as retail stores and restaurants. Since then, the campus has been completely reimagined, with development currently underway to introduce two residential towers to the site, the Los Angeles Times reported. The Los Angeles Times evacuated its office in the Times Mirror Square complex in 2018 following a $100 million sale to the Canadian developer Omni Group. Plans for the location include a 130-room boutique hotel made out of the paper’s original newsroom, nicknamed the “Rock of Truth” building for the inscription on its facade, as well as transforming the location’s defunct printing presses into a multi-level performance venue. The 8-acre complex in the Downtown Historic District was purchased by Charter Holdings President Ray Washburne for $28 million in 2020, according to the outlet, who eyed big plans for the site, aiming to transform its 1940’s architecture into a retro entertainment district that would complement business from the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center around the corner. The Dallas Morning News shifted out of its longtime headquarters at 508 Young Street in 2017 in favor of another building by architect George Dahl - the city’s old public library. The remodel, led by architectural firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz, maintains most of the historic landmark’s original design and infrastructure, including the paper’s grand lobby, the Hall of Inscriptions, as well as its iconic buttresses and watchful gargoyles. It has since been retrofitted for 162 luxury condominiums with price tags ranging from $700,000 to more than $7 million, according to The Architect’s Newspaper. Nearly a hundred years later, however, the site would fall out of their hands, transferring ownership to CIM Group in 2016. The 34-story neo-Gothic highrise was spurred out of a design competition launched by the paper in 1922, a token of the promise and prosperity in the newspaper industry at time. It was an offer for $240 million that led to the Chicago Tribune handing over the keys to its iconic Tribune Tower. In the Sentinel’s place, Midtown has planned a $75 million mixed-use redevelopment project, featuring office, hotel, retail and parking at the downtown spot, according to the Orlando Business Journal. ![]() Ultimately however, a lawsuit for more than half a million dollars in unpaid rent nixed all that. In 2016, developer Midtown Properties acquired the location, extending a leasing agreement with the paper’s parent company, Tribune Publishing, to 2023. ![]() Rental drama led to the departure of the Orlando Sentinel at its former headquarters at 610 North Orange Avenue. In the meantime, the empty lot is being repurposed annually as a makeshift convention center, hosting trade shows and events. The groups also promised to expand the city’s monorail system as a concession for the casino’s construction, linking Miami to Miami Beach via the BayLink monorail system. The paper’s original One Herald Plaza location has been the subject of much speculation and zoning drama since it was purchased for $236 million and torn to the ground in 2014, with developers Resorts World Miami and Malaysian-based Genting Group looking to build three 60-story buildings atop a sprawling casino complex on the site, according to Florida YIMBY. In 2013, the Miami Herald joined droves of newspapers across the country that drastically downsized their office space, and swapped its 750,000 square foot waterfront headquarters on Biscayne Bay in favor of a 160,000 square foot complex in suburban Doral - which it later left in 2020 in favor of remote work. Morgan Chase, American Media and Radio One. Instead, the massive office space houses tenants including J.P. The paper, a subsidiary of Tribune Publishing, has since moved its staff to a near-permanent remote work status, negating a need for the FiDi location. There was a time when the Daily News was the best selling newspaper in America, but in 2020 the paper had to jump ship from its Manhattan office at 4 New York Plaza due to the pandemic and ensuing city-wide shutdown.
